Alan Barnhart - March 1, 2024
51社区 and the McAfee School of Business would love for you to join us for our annual Faith in the Marketplace Luncheon. We are excited to host Alan Barnhart, President and CEO of Barnhart Crane & Rigging, a family-owned business that originated in 1969 Memphis, TN and has grown to be one of the largest heavy lift and transport organizations in the nation.
We hope you can join us to hear Alan's testimony of building a business to give it all away. Alan and his family made decisions as they stepped into the business to avoid the pitfalls of wealth and pursue the opportunities of being good stewards of wealth by donating significant portions of their profits to charity. He and his brother worked intentionally to include their employees in these decisions, which resulted in the creation of the Kingdom Companies Grove team (70 members) to make sure company profits are invested in strategic missions.
We hope you will join us to hear how Alan's fear of affluence caused him to cap his lifestyle and donate 100% of the company's stock into an irrevocable trust with the National Christian Foundation.

Alan has a boring resume — he has worked for the same company since he was 10 years old and has had the same position since 1986. is a Heavy Lifting and Heavy Transport company based in Memphis, TN, with offices in 40 cities across the United States. By God's grace, the company has grown an average of 18% per year for 36 years. Barnhart provides services to heavy industry and construction, focusing on power plants (wind, nuclear, and fossil fuel) and the petrochemical industry.
Alan's fear of affluence caused him to cap his lifestyle. His passion for missions has taken him to over 60 countries. The company profits are invested in strategic missions through the GROVE Group. Kingdom Companies Group team members and spouses (about 70) work in six teams to develop Kingdom investment portfolios that inform the decision-making process of the GROVE Board. Alan seeks to affect other companies through involvement in the Kingdom Companies Group (KCG) and C12. He is a trustee for one of the KCG trusts and serves on the KCG Counsel. He is active in a local C12 group and serves on their Board of Directors. Alan attends First Evangelical Church and is an active backpacker.
